Math - make sure your understand the questions from class posted below.
1.What is a synonym for rotation?
2.How many degrees are in one full rotation, one quarter rotation, one half rotation and three quarters of a rotation?
3.Make a drawing to show the difference between rotating CLOCKWISE(CW) and counterclockwise (CCW).
4.Explain what is meant by a fixed point? What are three different locations that a fixed point be found.
5.Explain what is meant by a center of rotation.
6.On a properly labeled Cartesian co-ordinate system, draw an isosceles triangle in quadrant four and label it properly.
7.Rotate your isosceles triangle 90 degree (CW) using ANY VERTEX as your fixed point and label it properly. Rotate the resulting image 180 degrees (CW) around the same vertex and label it properly. Rotate the second image 270(CW) degrees and label it properly.
Answer the following three questions:
1. a) Draw a Cartesian Co-ordinate System and label it properly (x and y-axis, arrowheads). In quadrant number three, draw a trapezoid and label it properly.
1. b) Rotate your trapezoid around ANY VERTEX by 270 degrees CCW. Label the image properly. Use scrap paper to trace the shape, if it helps you.
2. a) Draw another cartesian co-ordinate system and label it properly. In quadrant number one, draw a hexagon and label it.
2. b) Choose any point INSIDE the hexgon, but not the center, and rotate the shape 180 degrees CW. Label the image properly.
2. c) Reflect the image from question 2b) across the y-axis. Label it properly.
3. If a snowboarder rotates three and a half times, how many total degrees has he or she spun? Show your work.
