9. Explain how Fold Mountains are formed.

10. Where are the Appalachian mountains and what types of rock are they made of?

11. What types of rock are the Coast Mountains, which run along the Western coast of North America, made of?

12. What caused the Coast Mountains to form?

13. Explain what Plains and Lowlands are.

14. What causes the Rocky Mountains to form?

15. What type of map is on page 76 of your text book. Briefly explain how you know.

16. Explain what a topographic map is.

17. What is the purpose of contour lines on a topographic map?

18. What does the word elevation mean?

20. As the elevation decreases, what happens to the distance between contour lines?
